State Cup – Player Information

Hi Parents,

Congratulations on your child being selected to represent the UNSW – South Sydney Rabbitohs at the 2020 NSW Junior State Cup. The following email (a long one!) provides information that is important for all parents to know. Please read carefully, and complete the action items as requested. If you have any questions, these are best directed to your coach. If they cannot resolve anything, please get in touch with me.

Player Details

The first thing all parents need to do is complete this player detail form. Please do so asap.

The Tournament

The tournament is held from Friday 21st February to Sunday 23rd February 2020 at Jubilee Park & Conolly Park, Wagga Wagga NSW.

If teams are successful at the tournament, they will then play at the State Finals later in the year.

Training

Training will be held at Heffron Park, at the fields next to the Des Renford Aquatic Centre carpark, on Sundays from 4pm – 6pm. Training begins THIS SUNDAY.

It is expected that all players attend training. If they regularly miss sessions, we may need to provide their spot to someone else. Please, if you can’t make it, just let the coach know early.

Your coach will give you more details about training.

Coaches

Your coaches will be in touch over the next day or so. Alternatively, feel free to ask them any questions you can think of at training on Sunday, at 4pm.

Costs and Payments

In order to keep costs low, our club is offering significant subsidies for all players. The costs are as follows:

  • Player Fee – $200 (compulsory for all players)
  • This includes all playing uniform (hat, singlet, shorts, socks), an off-field shirt and backpack, coaching costs, field costs, marquee hire at Wagga.
  • Accommodation – $150 per player (optional)
  • This includes three nights accommodation (Thursday – Sunday) in Cootamundra.
  • NSW Touch Player Registration Fee (approximately $88, payable to NSW Touch – NOT US – when you register your child – this information will come out later)
  • This fee is payable to NSW Touch, the competition organisers when you register your child in the tournament. Details on this will come out later.

Deposit

In order to secure your spot in the team, you need to pay a deposit of $100 into the following bank account, no later than Friday 6th December.

BSB: 062-303
Account: 10886242
Name: UNSW Touch Club
Reference: Player Surname – JSC

Active Kids

You can use a valid Active Kids voucher to make part of your payment for State Cup. If you wish to do this, please email your Active Kids voucher details to our treasurer at [email protected]

Accommodation for Kids and Parents

We have booked as much accommodation as we possibly can. With that said, as we are new to this tournament, we were only able to secure accommodation in surrounding towns (Cootamundra) which are approximately one-hour drive from Wagga. We are working hard on 2021, but at this late stage, it was the best we could do for 2020.

We have booked enough accommodation for all players, coaches, and a limited number of parents per team.

If parents require accommodation, please indicate this on the player detail form. Accommodation is limited, so we may not be able to fulfil all requests.

Uniform Sizing

Kids will be sized for uniform at training in the next couple of weeks.

Is my child qualified to play for this club?

Very importantly, if your child does not currently play in our Tuesday competition, they will need to commit to playing in the upcoming Term 1 2020 Tuesday competition. NSW Touch is very clear on the rules that state all players must be active members of the club social competition.

Registrations for this competition will open this week. We are looking for teams to enter first, so please work at getting some teams together for our competition. It only makes our competition stronger.

Its all about FUN

The last thing. We are building a club that is all about learning, having a go, and having fun. Please support this ethos by supporting our kids in everything they do, and by making sure that all kids are enjoying themselves. Kids sport should be fun. When we are having fun, we will be successful.

Thanks, and I look forward to being a part of all the future success of our teams.
