Draft Draw Available for Term 1 Junior Competition

The draft draw for the 2020 Term 1 UNSW Rabbitohs Junior Touch Competition is now available, via the menu on the left.

Please note that due to field availability challenges, all games in March will be played at David Phillips Fields, on the corner of Gwea and Banks Avenue, Daceyville. We appreciate your understanding with this change.

Also, for new teams and new individuals: there has been a slight delay in receiving our playing shirts from the manufacturer. We will have these ready for Round 2. Please wear any shirt with a number on it for week one.

If you signed up as an individual, you should now have received an email with your allocated team and division. Please check this and let me know if there are any issues.

Last Games for 2019 - Draw and Update

This week's games will be the last games for 2019. Due to the previous interruptions to the competition from smoke haze, we have revised the draw for tomorrow's games to ensure that all teams get a game this week. We will then take a break following tomorrow's games and return on 14 January 2020.

December 10 Games Cancelled

Unfortunately due to persistent smoke haze, and in the best interests of our players, we have decided to cancel today’s games. We understand the disappointment this causes, however, we must take into account the health of all participants. 

We have been monitoring air quality indexes and even with the southerly change, equality levels remain hazardous. Again, we do not take these decisions lightly and make this decision in the best interest of player safety and welfare. We hope everyone understands.

Next week will be the final round for the 2019 competition. Stay tuned for an update as to how the final round will progress.

Junior Competition Update

In light of recent weather conditions that have resulted in a number of washouts, we have decided to implement the following changes to the junior competition for the remainder of the 2019 season

Final Rounds

The Under 10 and Intermediate divisions will replay rounds 6 and 8, which were originally recorded as washouts due to smoke haze. Round 6 will now be played on Tuesday 10th December and around 8 will be played on Tuesday 17th December

Youth League will continue with their scheduled format for the remainder of the tournament (no changes to games)

Finals

There will be no finals, due to the limited number of rounds. Intermediate and Youth League winners will be determined by first past the post. There are no recorded results in Under 10s, and therefore there will be no winner. 

Smoke Haze

At all times we make decisions with our players in mind. Hazardous conditions are expected to persist in Sydney for the coming weeks. As such, should the conditions be hazardous on a Tuesday, we will make a determination on the progress of that days games based on the advice provided to us by the Department of the Environment and NSW Touch. Again, we make these decisions with player safety in mind. A decision will be announced on Tuesdays at 3pm, on our website and our Facebook page. 

Term 1 2020

All registered participants in our current 2019 competition are automatically registered in our 2020 competition. This means you don’t have to pay a cent to continue in 2020. We are recruiting for more teams and players so if you know any interested teams or players, please put them in touch.

Games Cancelled due to Hazardous Air Quality

Unfortunately, due to the hazardous air quality and intense heat, we are going to cancel this weeks junior competition matches, as well as the Junior State Cup team trials.

Junior State Cup trials will be moved to Wednesday 20th November, from 6pm to 7:30pm at Heffron Park, for all teams (including Under 10 boys). If you are unavailable for this trial, please email Casey.

Registrations Now Open for Term 1 2020 Junior Touch

Registrations are now open for teams and individuals to join our junior competition in 2020. The competition is open to players in divisions from Under 8’s through to Under 16’s.

The competition will run on Tuesday afternoons, from the 14th January through to the end of March. The competition is held at Heffron Park, Maroubra.

To register, just head to our registration page follow the instructions. Get in quick as registrations close on the 20th December 2019.

Round 6 Update - Air Quality

As you can no doubt tell, today's air quality is poor with smoke blanketing much of Sydney. At this stage, Round 6 of the junior competition and the representative trials will go ahead as scheduled. We will continue to monitor conditions and will provide an update via our website at 3pm.

If your child has lung or respiratory concerns, you should make a judgement on them playing based on your own medical advice.

Again, at this stage, all games and representative trials will go ahead.
