Representative Touch

Come and represent the UNSW – South Sydney Rabbitohs. We play in a range of tournaments including the NSW State Cup and Vawdon Cup. If you are interested in joining us, read on for more information.

Representative Touch

In 2019, the UNSW Touch Club entered into a strategic partnership with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, to rebrand our representative teams as the UNSW – South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The UNSW – South Sydney Rabbitohs are the representative arm of the UNSW – South Sydney Touch Football Club, competing in the representative competitions through NSW Touch Football. Vawdon Cup The Vawdon Cup is the representative competition for the Sydney Metropolitan area. The competition runs from approximately July/August to late October each year, with games played on Friday nights at various grounds all over Sydney.

We have achieved great success in the Vawdon Cup, with numerous finals appearances and premierships won throughout the years. Our most recent success in 2018 includes winning the 2018 Men’s Division 1 competition, and finishing runner’s up in the 2018 Men’s Division 3 competition.

NSW Vawdon Cup

The Vawdon Cup is a weekly competition conducted throughout the Sydney Metropolitan area catering for Open & Youth divisions. The competition which commences in late August and finishes in towards the end of October.

In 2023, the UNSW – South Sydney Rabbitohs entered a total of 2 representative teams into the Vawdon Cup, as follows: – 1 x Mixed Open – 1 x Girls Youth League.

Registrations for Vawdon Cup usually commence in late April/early May of each year. If you are interested in playing for the UNSW – South Sydney Rabbitohs in the Vawdon Cup, please get in touch.

NSW State Cup

The NSW State Cup is the state’s premier touch football competition. The tournament is conducted in Port Macquarie over three days from the first Friday in December, and is open to all touch football clubs across the state of NSW, with numerous divisions and age categories catering for players of all abilities and ages.

We have a proud history of success at State Cup in recent years, with medals achieved across both the Men’s and Women’s squads every year. Trials’ for State Cup usually commence immediately after the conclusion of the Vawdon Cup season.

For the 2023 State Cup, UNSW – South Sydney Rabbitohs entered 4 teams as follows: 1 x Men’s Opens – 1 x Women’s Opens – 1 x Women Over 30’s – 1 x Mens Over 40’s. The Club had a very successful campaign with all teams reaching the knockout stage of the competition, with the Women Over 30’s team making the Grand Final and the Men Over 40’s team winning the Grand Final.

Representative Pathways

Playing representative touch football with UNSW – South Sydney Rabbitohs is a great way to develop skills and experience in a more competitive and structured environment, with weekly training run by accredited coaches. This can also lead to a pathway to higher levels of representative touch football at the State, Regional, National and International level. Our elite players feature regularly in the National Touch League (NTLs) competition each year, as well as in the NSW and Australian teams.
